After the original recording session, producer Jimmy Haslip suggested I compose and record one more piece. I realized the CD would benefit from a track with strong rhythmic drive so I wrote Hopscotch. The poly-rhythms I wrote for the piano part were inspired from hanging out with my friend and colleague, pianist Benoit Delbecq. The title came compliments of jazz vocalist Catherine Russell.
