The Seasons of Being
The concept for this project developed out of my desire to explore the intersection of healing and music. We all experience some sort of dis-ease in our lives and the power of music to heal has been recognized for centuries. My composition process was empowered by the principles of homeopathic healing, helping me identify the musicians’ emotional lineage. My objective was to place each featured improviser in a musical setting that would support their unique emotional characterization, creating a pathway for participation in their own healing.
— During an exchange with one of the musicians I asked how they felt about a particular passage. They smiled and responded, “are these my chords?… then I feel pretty good!” —
–Andy Milne
“To create a rigorous, engaging suite of music singing the praises of homeopathic healing and improvisation, you need chutzpah and imagination in equal doses. A resourceful pianist with a crisp touch and a constantly shifting harmonic approach, Milne possesses plenty of both. … the latest album from his band, Dapp Theory — an ambitious and rewarding disc that was long in the making.”

“This is Milne at his most Ellingtonian, establishing moods and beginning various patterns that the band will soon take over. It is a mature, careful performance—one certainly easy to miss. Every time you pay attention to the piano parts, they are interesting, vital, subtle.”
