Three’s not a crowd: Pianist Andy Milne’s Unison Trio
It’s easy to lose sight of Canadian-born pianist and composer Andy Milne when he’s behind his Dapp Theory quintet, a group known for its dynamic and boundary-defying blend of involved themes, emotional improvisation, and spoken word. Milne’s appearance with his Unison Trio at Gig Performance Space (1808 Second St.) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19, will strip away the instrumental layers, giving us a chance to hear the passion and lyricism he brings to the piano. Bassist John Hébert and drummer Clarence Penn, both known for musical empathy and personality, round out the trio. Tickets are $22, available at 505-886-1251, gigsantafe.com.
